How we check the rules

Every number on this site earned its place the same way — read in the law itself, cited, and stamped with the month it was checked.

Primary sources or it doesn't ship

Rules here come from statute text, administrative code, and official state guidance — never from another website's summary. Where a rule lives in district policy instead of state law, the page says so, in those words, and shows you the document to pull and the paragraph to find. Where a number cannot be confirmed in primary text, it does not appear — several famous figures circulating online failed that test and are deliberately absent from this site.

Three tiers, always labeled

Federal rules that are the same in all fifty states. State rules verified state by state, each with its citation. District rules that no honest site can state for you — where the product hands you the finder protocol and the send-today letter instead of a made-up number.

Exact vs estimate

Deadline math depends on your district's real calendar. When you give the calculator a complete calendar, it marks its dates EXACT. When inputs are incomplete, it marks them ESTIMATE and says what to verify. A tool that prints false precision about your child's deadline is worse than no tool.

Checked, then re-checked

School law changes at the edges every legislative session. State pages carry their checked month (October 2026 at launch), and the dataset is re-verified on a school-year cycle — sooner when a watched bill moves.

Rules checked October 2026 — every rule on this page is cited to its source. Verify day counts against your district's official calendar.
